Calling us and the free inspection

How fast can you come out?

We answer 24/7, every day of the year. When water is spreading, we're on site in under an hour anywhere in the Las Vegas valley, and we start by finding where the water came from.

Are your inspections and estimates free?

Yes. Inspections and estimates are free. We show you what we found, explain what the work involves and answer your questions before you decide on anything.

Do you work on businesses too?

Yes. We work on homes and businesses. Tell us about the property and what happened, and we'll plan the visit around it.

Are you a full-service restoration company?

Yes. We handle water removal and drying, mold remediation, fire damage restoration and asbestos and lead abatement. We also talk with your plumber and your insurance company, so you have less to manage.

Are you licensed, insured and certified?

Yes. We're licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board, license 0091986, as an asbestos abatement contractor, and we're bonded and insured. Our technicians hold IICRC certifications, including water damage restoration, applied structural drying, applied microbial remediation and odor control.

Insurance

Do you work with my insurance company and bill them directly?

Yes. We work with all insurance companies and bill them directly. We document everything fully, with photos, moisture readings and an estimate written in Xactimate, the software insurance companies use, and you get one named contact from the first call to the end of the job. Only you can file the claim, and your insurance company decides what your policy covers.

Does calling you for an inspection start an insurance claim?

No. An inspection is a look at the damage, not an insurance claim, and the inspection and estimate cost you nothing. Whether to open a claim with your insurance company is your decision.

Water damage

What should I do while I wait for you to arrive?

Shut off the water at the fixture or the main if you can reach it, or the cooler's water line if a swamp cooler is leaking. Keep out of any room where the ceiling sags, because a wet ceiling can come down.

Can I get the water up myself with a wet vac?

For a small spill on tile, often yes. Once water soaks into the pad or runs under a baseboard, a wet vac can leave much of it behind to keep spreading. Stay out of any water that may have reached an outlet or a cord.

With the desert air so dry, won't the floor dry out on its own?

Not in most cases. Dry air works on the surface, but water trapped in the pad and inside the lower walls gets little air, and mold can start in materials that stay wet. In monsoon season, the air indoors can turn humid too.

Will water extraction stop the leak that caused it?

No. Extraction removes water that has already escaped, so turn off the fixture's supply valve or the main. A plumber deals with the line or appliance that failed, and we deal with the water.

What should I do with furniture sitting on wet carpet?

Carry what you can off the wet area, and set foil or plastic under the legs of heavier pieces. Wood stain and metal feet can mark wet carpet, and a rug can bleed dye into it.

Will you have to cut out drywall or pull up carpet?

That depends on how wet they are. Some materials can be dried where they are, while soaked drywall, insulation or carpet may need to come out. When something has to go, we remove it and tell you why.

How long does it take to dry everything out?

There is no set drying time, because it depends on what got wet, how far the water spread and the indoor humidity. Moisture readings guide the drying, and we take them as the job runs to see which materials hold water.

Why is drying equipment still running after the water is gone?

Because the water you could see was only part of it. Some soaked into the drywall, the cabinet bases and the slab, where extraction cannot reach. Our moisture readings guide the drying, not the look of the floor.

Can we stay in the house while the drying equipment runs?

Whether you stay depends on the job, and we plan with you which rooms the drying equipment will take up. The air movers and dehumidifiers run day and night and make steady noise. If anyone at home has a health concern, ask your doctor.

Flooding and storms

Water is coming in under the door. What should I do?

Move rugs, papers and small belongings off the floor where it is safe to walk, and keep out of any room where water has reached outlets or cords. A rolled towel or a sandbag at the door can slow what comes in until the storm passes.

Is storm water from outside different from a burst pipe?

It can be. Water from a broken supply line starts out clean, while water that runs in from outside has crossed yards and streets and can carry mud and debris. Either way, our flood cleanup includes sanitation as well as water removal and drying.

The valley has flood channels, so how did water get inside?

Runoff from a heavy downpour can cross a yard and get under a door before it reaches a storm drain. The Clark County Regional Flood Control District's 722 miles of storm drains and channels and 113 detention basins move and hold runoff once it gets to them.

Can you come out at night if a storm floods the house?

Yes. Flood water doesn't keep business hours, and neither do we: we're open 24/7, nights and holidays included. Once you call, we're on site in under an hour to look at the water with you.

Can flood water cause mold in the house?

It can. Mold can grow where materials stay wet, such as the bottom of a wall or inside a cabinet. Mold remediation is one of our services, so if we find growth during a flood cleanup, we show it to you and explain the work it needs.

Mold

Is a musty smell a sign of hidden mold?

It can be. A musty smell often comes from mold growing somewhere damp and out of sight, like inside a wall or under a vanity. Our inspection checks where that dampness comes from, and when mold is the cause, odor control is part of our work.

Should I scrub or spray the mold myself before you come out?

We'd ask you to leave it alone. Scrubbing, scraping or spraying mold can send spores into the air, and a fan blowing across it can carry them into other rooms. If a leak is still feeding it and you can reach the shutoff valve, turn the water off.

Is the mold inspection really free?

Yes. Coming out, looking at the growth and finding the source costs nothing, and so does the estimate for any work it needs.

Do you test for mold or take air samples?

No. Our inspection is a look at the growth and the materials around it, plus moisture readings to find the water feeding it. If you need lab testing, for a sale or a doctor for example, that's done by a separate testing company.

What happens after the inspection?

We walk you through the growth, the source and the affected areas, and give you a free estimate for the remediation. You decide whether to go ahead, and we work with your insurance company if the loss is covered.

Do we need to move out while you remove the mold?

It depends on the job: where the mold is, how far it has reached and which rooms you need to use. We go over that with you at the inspection and plan the work around your space. If mold is a health worry for anyone at home, ask your doctor.

Can mold come back after remediation?

It can if moisture returns to the same spot. Our work removes contaminated materials and treats the area, but a new leak or a damp, closed-up room can let mold start again. That is why we track down the water source as well as the growth.

Will my insurance cover mold remediation?

It depends on your policy and often on what caused the mold, and that call belongs to your insurance company. We talk with them and show you the source we found.

Fire, smoke and soot

When can we go back into the house after a fire?

When the fire department tells you the building is safe to enter. Flames, heat and hose water can weaken ceilings, floors and stairs, so stay out until then. For a health question about the smoke, ask your doctor.

Is a small kitchen fire worth calling about?

It often is. A small fire on the stove can push soot into cabinets and vents and leave the nearby rooms smelling of smoke. We charge nothing to look at it and give you an estimate, so you know what you are dealing with.

Should we start wiping up the soot ourselves?

It is better to leave it for now. Wiping soot can smear it into paint and fabric, and some household cleaners can set the stain. Keep the air conditioning and any swamp cooler switched off, since either one can blow soot through the ducts into the rest of the house.

Why does the whole house smell of smoke when one room burned?

Smoke does not stay in the room that burned. It moves down hallways, into closets and through air ducts, leaving residue and odor in rooms the flames never touched. So a room can need smoke cleanup and odor control without a single scorch mark.

Won't an air freshener or an open window fix it?

They can cover the smell for a while, but smoke odor clings to residue in the materials. It tends to come back until that residue is cleaned and the odor is treated.

What do you do with materials that keep smelling?

Some porous materials, such as soaked insulation or carpet pad, hold too much smoke residue to clean. We remove those from the affected rooms.

Do you clean the air too?

Yes. Air scrubbers with HEPA filters run in the rooms where we work, to catch fine soot before it settles on surfaces we've cleaned.

Will my insurance cover smoke, soot and water damage from a fire?

That comes down to your policy. Whichever company insures you, we talk with them. The smoke, the soot and the hose water all came from one fire, but policies differ, and what yours covers is something your insurance company decides.

Asbestos

How can I tell if a material in my home contains asbestos?

Most of the time, you can't tell by looking. A lab test of a sample is what shows whether a material holds asbestos. Until you know, treat it as if it does and leave it in place, with no sanding, drilling, scraping or cutting.

Why does asbestos matter before a remodel or a demolition?

A remodel or demolition cuts, sands and breaks old materials, some of which may contain asbestos. Disturbed material with asbestos in it can release fibers into the air. That is why older materials should be tested before the project starts, and any asbestos found should be handled by a licensed abatement contractor.

What should we do if we've broken into material that may contain asbestos?

Stop the work and keep people and pets out of that area. Turn off any fan or swamp cooler moving air through the room, and don't sweep or vacuum the dust. Then call us, and we'll come look at what was disturbed.

Can people stay in the building while you remove the asbestos?

It depends on the job, and we work it out with you as part of the abatement plan. Keep everyone out of the containment while the crew works inside it. If you have a health question about staying, ask your doctor.

Will my insurance pay for asbestos abatement?

That depends on your policy and on why the work is needed, such as a planned remodel or a leak that damaged the material. Either way, your insurance company decides what your policy covers. We talk with your carrier, whatever company it is.
